It has been said that the mark of a man is that he initiates; he’s intentional, proactive.
Perhaps you have been the type of person that just waits for someone else to do it. Prayer meetings, worship meetings, outreaches, mission trips - they’ve all been available for you to take part in - but now is the time to take initiative.
You’re the one to call other men for prayer; to get some brothers together for worship.
To hang-out, share and pray for each other.
To go out, meet people and bring the Kingdom as you see the needs of the people.
Even to organise and go on a mission trip locally or overseas.
Ask the Holy Spirit: “What can I do?”
Be creative with the Creator of the Universe! He’ll joyfully lead you.
How can you take initiative in each of these areas:
Obey heaven - developing a deep relationship with Father God.
Serve people - being there for your brothers, and intentionally receiving mentoring from older brothers.
Conquer self - continuing to grow in more and more freedom; asking God for His way to overcome any besetting issues. Consider 1 John 2:12-14 (below). Are you a child, young-man or a father? How can you grow into the next level?
Also serving the wider body of Christ; what is God challenging you to do?
Crush evil - Knowing you’re called to “GO!” - not just for a peaceful happy life, but to wreak havoc on the kingdom of darkness.
Here’re some practical suggestions:
“Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
Go slowly but surely. Plan, try new things, and keep what works.
Do it again!
Do the 33 Day Challenge again with a new brother - even while you keep the relationships alive and deepen those, think of a 3 Month Cycle:
A 33 day challenge, ongoing connection, Warrior Training weekends, prayer retreats, outreaches, gatherings for fellowship, worship, prayer.
Then in 3 months - each of you begin again with ONE MORE GUY.
Amazingly, if you multiply like this, just ONE MORE GUY, every THREE MONTHS - in just 5 years you will have reached ONE MILLION MEN.
Yes, as amazing as it sounds - it’s true. And I believe this is how Jesus intended it to be with the disciples, and how Paul did it with his sons in the faith.
You and I are called and equipped for the same thing!
